[SC00] <br>This position is responsible for supporting the company's Controller's Department by participating in the monthly closing process as well as providing data and variance analysis to various regulatory agencies and auditors both internal and external. Additionally, this analyst will work with the different Rate Departments to ensure the regulatory deferrals are being refunded or recovered as intended.</p><p><br>All positions are onsite and may be located near the Akron, OH or Greensburg, PA location.</p><p><br><strong>Responsibilities include:</strong> <br>- Subject matter expert on specific regulatory deferrals, perform the monthly calculations and prepare the journal entries <br>- Preparing and analyzing data to respond to requests from internal and external auditors <br>- Preparing and analyzing complex data to be submitted to FERC, various state commissions and internal management <br>- Reconcile balance sheet accounts for the monthly BlackLine process <br>- Preparing journal entries during the monthly close process <br>- Prepare portions of state specific regulatory memos and disclosure documents <br>- Lead and develop solutions to improve the accuracy or efficiency of complex business processes and /or projects <br>- Conducting ad hoc research, analyze data, interpret results, and assist in implementation of regulatory mechanisms and financial reporting <br>- Coordinating and reviewing responses to rate case interrogatories <br>- Responsible for developing and maintaining controls for SOX compliance <br>- Understanding the financial and strategic goals of FirstEnergy <br>- Educating and directing others on technical subject matters, improving programs and process effectiveness, and making significant contributions to the achievement of goals and objectives <br>- Serving as a "thought leader" and technical resource for less tenured employees <br>- Promoting a sense of urgency in the team for reaching goals and meeting deadlines <br>- Maintaining a safe workplace for coworkers and the community based upon knowledge of potential hazards and industry relations/requirements</p><p><br><strong>Qualifications include:</strong> <br>- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related discipline required.
