Summary or Purpose

Provide office and administrative support and assist the supervisor with the efficient operation
of the school. In addition, it serves as the link between the School, Home, and community
and assists students in achieving success in school. Serve as the link between
the School/Home/Community and to assist students in achieving success in school.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities

Education and/or Experience:
Graduate from high school, a general education degree or equivalent is required.
Two to three years of related experience and/or training.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, staff, and the public.

Language Skills:
Read and interpret procedures, policies, and regulations, such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to proofread.

Type 50 words per minute.

Effectively present information and respond to supervisor, staff, vendors, and public questions.

Two years experience in using personal computers and other office equipment.

Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word or Apple equivalents.

Experience organizing work areas, allowing multiple users to access information.
Mathematical Skills:
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals.

Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and
distance.

Preference:
Inupiaq speaking and cultural experience preferred.

Reasoning Ability:
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations.
Interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
A valid Alaska driver’s license is required.

Essential Functions
➢ Organize and type various reports, documents, letters, and correspondence; may delegate

their preparation.
➢ Organize, perform, and complete multiple tasks that may include various steps to complete.
➢ Prepare reports, correspondence, memoranda, review drafts, and final copies.
➢ Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.
➢ Assist in training and supervision of employees.
➢ Schedule appointments, make travel arrangements, and assemble material for meetings.
➢ Obtain, gather, and organize pertinent data as needed.
➢ Maintain an accurate inventory of materials and equipment, place orders for materials, verify
quantities delivered, and distribute to staff.
➢ Assist in the coordination of special office projects and activities.
➢ Stay informed, follow District policies and regulations, and answer related questions.
➢ Screen visitors and telephone calls, directing them to the appropriate person.
➢ Screen and route incoming mail.
➢ Support the value of education and the philosophy and mission of the District.
➢ Monitor students’ attendance and progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.
➢ Refer students’ attendance and their families to appropriate community agencies and
services.
➢ Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems.
➢ Facilitate communications among parents, teachers, administrators, students, and
supporting agencies to ensure students' success.
➢ Interact positively with students.
