Job Summary: The CDL Truck Driver position for Target Rental is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting rental, sales and customer equipment. Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, company policies, and Core Values. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service by training customers on the safe operation of equipment, following all processes to capture signatures and pictures, and contributing to overall operational excellence. When not driving, the CDL Truck Driver assists with servicing equipment, maintaining their assigned fleet vehicle, and supporting facility maintenance tasks as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Driving and Transportation Duties:

  • Safely operate commercial vehicles to transport equipment to customer sites and return equipment to the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company driving policies.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
  • Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving activities, delivery receipts, and fuel usage as required by DOT regulations and company policy.
  • Communicate effectively with Managers, counter staff and customers to ensure timely deliveries and address any issues that arise.

Customer Service and Training:

  • Provide excellent customer service by delivering equipment on time and in good condition.
  • Train customers on the safe and proper operation of rental equipment, ensuring they are confident and competent in its use.
  • Address customer questions and concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Uphold the company’s Core Values by demonstrating integrity, respect, and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations.

Process Compliance:

  • Follow all established company processes, including capturing customer signatures and pictures during equipment deliveries and pickups.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and submitted promptly.
  • Report any issues or discrepancies to the appropriate department immediately.

Equipment Service Assistance:

  • Assist the service team with basic equipment maintenance, including cleaning, fueling, and minor repairs.
  • Support equipment preparation for rental, ensuring readiness and adherence to quality standards.

Fleet Vehicle Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleanliness tasks on assigned fleet vehicles, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall vehicle condition.
  • Report any vehicle issues or needed repairs to the appropriate department promptly.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stocked with necessary tools, safety equipment, and documentation.

Facility Maintenance Support:

  • Participate in facility upkeep tasks, such as organizing materials, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting general repairs.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in regular safety training and contribute to a culture of workplace safety.
  • Report any safety hazards, accidents, or incidents immediately to management.
  • Conduct site assessments to identify potential hazards and prevent damage to vehicles, equipment, or customer property

Teamwork and Communication:

  • Communicate across departments to ensure seamless operations and exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a respectful and productive work environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL- Class A with airbag endorsement (Commercial Driver’s License) with a clean driving record.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and vehicle inspection procedures.
  • Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
