JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Manager, the primary functions of this position are to train employees in the following capacity: coordinate front office activities of hotel, resolve problems arising from guests' complaints, reservations, and room assignment activities. This is a full-time, regular position that may be required to train/work the 2 shifts: 12am to 8am, and 4pm to midnight. The starting pay is $22.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Greets, registers, and assigns rooms to guests in a confident, professional and friendly manner. Providing excellent customer service.
  • Confers and cooperates with other department heads to ensure coordination of activities.
  • Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel services; registration of guests; and shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Computes bill, collect payment, and makes change for guests.
  • Makes and confirms reservations.
  • Receives and processes advance registration payments.
  • Sends out letters of confirmation or returns checks when registration cannot be accepted.
  • Provides administrative support to management staff.
  • Transmits and receives telephone messages.
  • Prepare daily housekeeping assignments indicating rooms that have scheduled linen changes or makes or incoming/departing clients.
  • Prepare and distribute daily occupancy report summaries.
  • May be called upon to do entry level accounting tasks, such as bank deposits and/or daily audit reports.
  • Keep lobby areas clean and neat.
  • Stock gift shop and ring up sales.
  • Bucket checks to be performed by each shift to verify data as it pertains to (1.) Guest name, (2.) Guest address, (3.) Room rate, (4.) Date of departure, (5.) Number of Guests in room and (6.) Credit card info
  • Communicate harmoniously and professionally with coworkers - sharing all information and updates.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
  • High school or equivalent certification.
  • One (1) year of hotel clerical or administrative experience.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to operate standard office machines and basic understanding of computers.
  • Knowledge of efficient office procedures.
  • Ability to speak in a clear and understandable manner and write legibly.
  • Must be able to work independently, and must be willing to work shifts that vary from day to night and operate seven days a week.
