Job Summary:

The Grader Dept. Lead is responsible for maximizing efficiency and capacity of the processing plant grader. This role leads employees in the grader department on delivery of day-to-day tasks, ensuring quality product is produced according to customer specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead employees in day-to-day tasks in the processing plant grader area
  • Maintain knowledge of job requirements and responsibilities for each role within the grader area
  • Train employees on job requirements, hazards, and continued process improvement
  • Understand quality requirements and ensure products meet standards
  • Maximize the throughput of the grader systems
  • Follow and execute the daily grading plan
  • Collaborate with shipping department and employees on FIFO of raw packaging supplies
  • Create labels that meet customer specifications
  • Communicate with plant management as necessary regarding employee or product concerns
  • Collaborate with plant management and suppliers regarding grading process improvements
  • Focus on process improvement to maximize quantity of eggs to the finished pack
  • Effectively communicate with management, employees, and other departments
  • Write daily grading plan according to daily processing plan
  • Check egg weights; ensuring eggs are getting the appropriate packaging-making adjustments to weights while still adhering to USDA guidelines
  • Work closely with USDA representative
  • Keep work area clean, follow GMP, and wear appropriate PPE
  • Disassemble all machines
  • Clean and sanitize processing facility and equipment; including, but not limited to, scrubbing, wiping, foaming, and rinsing equipment
  • Reassemble machines and prepare for USDA inspection
  • Follow cleaning procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Keep work area clean, follow GMP, and wear appropriate PPE
  • Other duties as assigned
