This role requires strong </span><b style="font-size: 9pt;">problem-solving skills, analytical judgment, and attention to detail</b><span style="font-size: 9pt;"> to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies across </span><b style="font-size: 9pt;">Bank Reconciliations, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Security Deposits, and Financial Reporting</b><span style="font-size: 9pt;">.</span></p><p><br></p><p><span style="font-size: 9pt;">The Senior Accountant ensures that client accounting records are accurate, compliant, and ready for ongoing operations — playing a critical role in stabilizing financials during the transition phase.</span></p> <p></p><p><br></p><b>Key Responsibilities</b><ul><li><b>Bank Reconciliations</b> – Perform full reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and post corrective entries.  Trouble-shoot and resolve for the triple tie out.  Troubleshoot, identify, and reconcile trust accounts.</li><li><b>Balance Sheet Accounts </b>– Reconcile general ledger accounts to subledger reports.  Identify duplicate or misapplied entries, and resolve vendor/tenant imbalances.</li><li><b>Income Statement Accounts</b> - Review for normal trends, Identify duplicate, misapplied or missing entries.  </li><li><b>Problem Resolution</b> – Diagnose root causes of accounting issues, develop solutions, and escalate complex matters to the Accounting Lead. </li><li><b>Ad Hoc & Specialized Work</b> – Execute client-specific procedures including software migrations, calibrations, and ledger clean-ups. </li><li><b>Audit Readiness</b> – Prepare documentation, PBC lists, and recommendations to ensure transparency and client confidence.</li><li><b>Collaboration</b> – Clearly explain issues and guide problem resolution; share process insights with the Client and HA Accounting Manager.</li><li><b>Organization</b> - Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive tasks efficiently, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.</li></ul><p><br></p><b>Technical Skills</b><ul><li>Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices</li><li>Advanced reconciliation, AP, AR, and balance sheet analysis skills</li><li>Proficiency with accounting software (AppFolio, Yardi, RealPage, QuickBooks, etc.)</li><li>Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills</li></ul><p><br></p><b>Problem-Solving Skills</b><ul><li>Investigative mindset with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies</li><li>Strong analytical judgment and root-cause diagnosis skills</li><li>Ability to recommend process improvements and preventative measures</li></ul><p><br></p><b>Communication Skills</b><ul><li>Clear documentation and reporting of findings</li><li>Ability to explain accounting issues to non-accounting stakeholders</li><li>Collaborative approach with clients and internal teams</li><li>Strong client-facing skills</li></ul><p><br></p><b>Professional Attributes</b><ul><li>High attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines</li><li>Proactive in identifying risks and compliance issues</li><li>Adaptable to client-specific requirements and project scopes</li><li>Ability to effectively program manage- define timelines, project plans, etc.</li></ul><p><br></p><p></p> <p><i style="font-size: 15px;">Proper is proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse environment to work by offering the same opportunities to all applicants regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, color, religion, disability, national origins, marital status, or other characteristics.
