Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follows and supports all Company Safety policies and procedures
  • Takes all actions and necessary steps to deliver quality product to our customer.
  • Responsible for direct supervision and coaching of all personnel assigned to production maintenance department
  • Responsible for recording attendance, performance reviews/skill matrix, and disciplinary action of maintenance personnel as necessary.
  • Responsible for all maintenance activities (emergency, preventive, corrective) on production equipment and the facility
  • Responsible for developing and improving necessary maintenance processes
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with internal customers (Other departments / employees) as well as external customers (Suppliers).
  • Forecast operating costs of the department
  • Ensures performance metrics and goals are met and action plans implemented. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Responsible for department trainings, including training plans for technical and non-technical know-how
  • Leads / Supports continuous improvement projects such as Waste Reduction, Downtime Reduction
  • Creates and implements high performance work teams to drive and support manufacturing philosophies such as lean manufacturing, six sigma and best practice principals and kaizen.
  • Supports projects for new business or upgrades, including budget and timing tracking.
  • Maintains established housekeeping standards for responsible area

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Lead and direct maintenance & storeroom personnel. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization\’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor\’s degree in mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering; or Associates in industrial maintenance and four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related experience includes

  • Experience with electronic data collection and analysis
  • Experience with high-automated production processes (preferred for petfood).
  • Experience in statistical data interpretation and analysis (e.g., SPC).
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing Processes (Six Sigma, SMED, 5S/TPM).
  • Experience in measurement systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics

Computer and Technology Skills:

The successful candidate will be proficient in MS Office applications, Minitab, SAP, AutoCAD

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. German language speaking skills is another advantage.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and ability to apply concepts such as: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
