POSITION SUMMARY:


Provides first line of healthcare in the village clinic setting under the guidance of the Clinic Supervisor,higher level certified CHA, and CHP C/I. Must be readily available to attendthe training requirements to advance to a level CHA-I. Must work within scopeof practice and cannot exceed the level of training completed.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES


1. Works scheduled hours in clinic as arranged by ClinicSupervisor and/or CHAP Administration.

2. Must complete training requirements for the following:Community Health Aide Manual (CHAM) training, Pre-Session, and ETT or EMTtraining prior to being scheduled for health aide session training.

3. After successful completion of Pre-Session can obtainvital signs for higher level CHA’s and/or the Medical Staff providers.

4. Must maintain EMS certification to provide emergencyassistance to higher level CHA’s and/or mid-level providers.

5. Assists with Acute and Emergency care per CHAM atlevel of training. This includes but isnot limited to:

a. Assists ClinicSupervisor and higher level CHA’s with evaluation, documentation on PEF andtreatment of acute health problems.

6. Preventive patient care per CHAM at level of trainingby observing higher level providers who provide patient care.

a. Provideassistance to PHN as needed.

b. Provide assistanceto the WIC Program for eligible clients.

7. Chronic patient care per CHAM at level of training whichincludes:

a. Assists with monitoringpatients on long-term medications.

b. Assists withproviding medication refills in coordination with MHC Pharmacy for the higherlevel providers.

8. Provide health administration at level of training,which includes:

a. Daily medical logsfor each patient encounter for WIC and medication refills.

b. Replenishsupplies for the exam and lab rooms.

c. Maintains clinicpharmacy, medical supplies, and forms.

d. Clean medicalequipment and exam rooms using standard guidelines.

9. Performs and/or assumes other job related duties asneeded.

10. Must attend and successfully complete all health aidesession training.

11. Demonstrate a positive role model representing CHAPand his/her respective community.

12. Travel to villages as needed for training purposes andto maintain CME’s.



Job Qualifications:


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


High school diploma orequivalent, and must successfully complete the TABE test requirements. Must attendtraining as scheduled. Willing and ableto provide village medical health services on a routine and emergency basis andthe ability to provide services under stressful situations. Ability to lift50lbs, stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to speak Inupiaqdesirable.
