The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, efficient, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high accuracy standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake processing for new and existing patients on service, including verification and entry of demographic, pharmacy, and medical insurance information into patient profiles.
  • Accurately complete Coordination of Benefits (COB) documentation and updates.
  • Electronically adjudicate prescription claims; verify correct insurance entry, identify prior authorization requirements, confirm patient copay amounts, and document all findings.
  • Proactively obtain baseline laboratory results and other clinical documentation to support the clinical team in initial care planning.
  • Fax required documents to physician offices and respond to incoming communications from healthcare providers, insurers, and patients.
  • Manage daily assigned workloads, including general and side folders, ensuring completion of at least 25 faxes per hour with minimal to no errors.
  • Maintain data integrity across multiple systems with strong attention to database structure and record organization.
  • Provide responsive support for inbound calls from patients, physician offices, and insurance companies.
  • Perform additional administrative and operational tasks as assigned by management.

Education & Experience:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Associate’s degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience in a pharmacy technician, medical office, or healthcare administrative role (e.g., medical billing, coding, office assistant, prior authorization specialist).
  • Demonstrated experience with medical or pharmacy data entry in a clinical or pharmacy setting.
  • Strong customer service background with a patient-centered approach.

Licensure / Certification:

  • Foundation Care Only Requirement:
Must be able to complete the Missouri Registered Pharmacy Technician application on day one of employment, with the goal of obtaining a non-restricted Missouri Registered Pharmacy Tech license within 30 days of hire.
    OR

  • Comfortable working autonomously while remaining aligned with team goals
  • Familiarity with pharmacy workflows, insurance adjudication, and EHR/EMR systems
  • Ability to maintain productivity under pressure in a fast-paced setting

Work Environment:

This role operates in a hybrid team structure—while part of a collaborative unit, the specialist will primarily work independently on assigned folders and daily queues. Success requires self-motivation, focus, and consistent performance against productivity and accuracy benchmarks.
