Position Summary
- Adept at reading/interpreting prescription terminology and medications.
- Rapid keyboarding skills while maintaining 100% accuracy.
- Able to meet specified production and quality standards as defined by the management team.
- Able to recognize and identify commonly used generic drugs and the route of administration of these drugs.
- General knowledge of commonly used generic drugs.
- Able to understand and interpret Latin symbols commonly used on prescriptions medications and able write routine correspondence.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. This includes the ability to calculate dosages and days-supply prescriptions.
- Must be flexible and enjoy working in a fast pace, team-oriented environment.

Duties
- This position is responsible for screening orders, research, accurately and efficiently reading, interpreting, and entering prescriptions into the computer system in a timely fashion, and/ or thinking through and solving escalated prescription issues.
- Technicians will direct questionable prescriptions to the prescriber for clarification and enter incomplete prescription information once clarification has been obtained and complete appropriate described patient letter.
- Through your skills and knowledge, you will offer solutions needed to help simplify the customer health care experience.
- Areas of focus for Pharmacy Technicians may entering patient and prescription information into our system, and faxing physicians for prescription clarification, substitutions, and formulary changes.
- To help support development and maximize workflow, you will be asked to perform other pharmacy functions as required.
Experience
- Must know how to type and have basic computer knowledge.
- Must have an active texas state board of pharmacy license or trainee.
- Include texas state board of pharmacy registration number on resume.
- Completion of Pharmacy Tech training program.
- 3 months Pharmacy Experience.
Education
- Verifiable High School diploma or GED is required.
- Completion of Pharmacy Tech training program
