Purchasing Specialist
Compensation: Starting pay of $55,000-68,000/yr + three performance-based bonuses per year!
Location: Minneapolis, KS

Huyett is a progressive and growing master distributor and manufacturer of industrial fasteners. We are looking for a results-driven buying / supply chain management professional who has excellent communication skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task. This is a dynamic, hands-on position where the incumbent will work with a diverse, global supply chain network, with a mission to take our fastener distribution capabilities to the next level by further enhancing our procurement functions. This individual must be a team-player and perform assigned tasks accurately, completely, and in timely fashion. We offer these benefits and more:

Responsibilities:

  • Timely review and processing of supplier communication and documents.
  • Expedite inventory purchase orders as needed to ensure timely delivery.
  • Mediate and drive resolution to quality issues.
  • Serve as liaison relative to company procurement issues.
  • Monitor supplier communication, pricing, and delivery issues.
  • Manage and measure logistics providers, analyze and suggest cost mitigation for freight.
  • Manage ongoing supplier performance and suggest improvements as appropriate.
  • Facilitate supplier input and provide supplier feedback as needed to secure improvements.
  • Support Supply Chain leadership in goals tied to improving supplier and contractual relationships.
  • Support development and implementation of cost reduction projects as appropriate.
  • Understand and improve purchasing policies.
  • Perform all other procurement related duties as required.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Degree in Business, Finance, or other relevant fields is beneficial.
  • Prior customer service, accounting, or purchasing experience preferred.
  • Strong administrative skills and competent personal organization.
  • Excellent time management and problem resolution skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Extensive learning agility and a strong desire to learn new skills.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office programs experience.
  • Internal sense of customer service and team play.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and follow up with supervisors on completion of tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team setting while taking responsibility for personal productivity.
  • Ability to think 'on your feet' and react to vendor inquiries appropriately.
  • Ability to work at a desk full-time.
