Alaska Commercial Company (ACC) is seeking a Support Duo to join our team! This is a unique opportunity for two friends, family members, couples, or spouses to work together in rural Alaska. As a Support Duo, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our grocery store and providing excellent customer service to our customers. Due to housing arrangements and the nature of the opportunity, we are only considering applicants who apply as a pair. Your Responsibilities:

As the Support Duo in Unalakleet, you support the Store Manager and Front-End Manager with the following:

  • Review and achieve budgeted sales, gross profit, and expense lines within each department and total score
  • Assist the Store Manager in maintaining strict inventory control
  • Record and submit all Inter Store Transfers, including supplies taken from stock to damaged product
  • Receive/record in the log using packing slip and price all products in accordance with company procedures. Reconcile the receiving log with the inventory register monthly within 5 days of receipt in store
  • Ensure maintenance standards are met for the store and equipment to maximize operating efficiencies and preserve the security of all corporate assets
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maximize customer satisfaction with market knowledge, including product sampling and cashiering
  • Stock and rotate products in accordance with company standards, re-work sales floor presentations to maximize product appeal, and change prices and place orders as required
  • Provide customers and employees with a shopping and working environment that is clean, neat, and organized
  • Present product with knowledge and positivity
  • Ensure proper trimming techniques are used in perishable departments when the product is prepared for the sales floor or backstock. Use equipment properly and adhere to safety and security policies and procedures
  • Maintain communication with the Store Manager as well as throughout the store

Skills and Qualifications:

We’re looking for professional, organized workers who have a healthy sense of adventure, strong knowledge, and an experience base.
  • Strong leadership and customer service skills
  • Supervisory experience in grocery retail and the ability to effectively communicate and interpret a variety of instructions
  • Knowledge of the food supply industry and experience with managing supply chains
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education and retail experience preferred
  • Knowledge of grocery and general merchandise operating principles preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
  • Ability to comprehend and apply communications and ability to perform basic math

Reports to: Store Manager

Housing Guidelines:

Company-provided housing is intended for employees and their immediate family members only, defined as a spouse or partner and dependent children. Most housing units have an occupancy limit of four individuals. Exceptions will be reviewed and must be approved in advance by the Director of Operations.

Pet Policy:

Due to the remote nature of our locations, limited housing options, and restricted access to veterinary care, pets are generally discouraged. Pet requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by the Director of Operations. In communities where pets are permitted, there is a firm limit of two pets per unit—no exceptions. Service animals are permitted in accordance with applicable laws.
