Job Title: Shipping Department Lead

Location: Cokato, MN

Reports To: Operations Manager / Production Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Shipping Department Lead to oversee all aspects of outgoing shipments. This position is responsible for packaging finished parts, building shipping containers (crates, boxes, pallets), coordinating freight and parcel shipments, tracking delivery progress, and confirming receipt with clients.

The ideal candidate has prior shipping/logistics experience, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to solving problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Package and Prepare Shipments:

o Photograph outgoing parts to document condition.

o Build crates, boxes, and pallets as needed for safe transport.

o Ensure secure, accurate packaging based on part requirements.

• Coordinate Shipments:

o Schedule and manage shipments using various third-party platforms (e.g.,

UPS WorldShip, Freightquote, TQL, Priority Couriers).

o Choose optimal carriers based on cost, speed, and reliability.

o Generate shipping labels and documents as required.

• Track and Communicate:

o Monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery.

o Proactively resolve delays or exceptions in transit.

o Confirm delivery and receipt with clients, providing updates as needed.

• Maintain Shipping Area:

o Keep workspace clean, organized, and well-stocked with materials.

o Maintain tools and equipment used in crate/box construction.

• Documentation and Reporting:

o Keep accurate records of shipments, carrier contacts, and client

confirmations.

o Assist in updating shipping procedures as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a shipping/logistics or warehouse role
  • Hands-on experience building custom shipping containers.
  • Familiarity with freight and parcel software (UPS, LTL/TL carriers, etc.).
  • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, shipment tracking systems).
  • Ability to lift and move materials (up to 50 lbs) and operate basic hand tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and follow-up skills with both internal teams and Customers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
