Please apply directly to Elk Rapids Public SchoolsJob Title: REPORTS TO: Facilities/Operations Supervisor Superintendent JOB SPECIFICS: To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to implement facility/ground plans that ensure proactive maintenance of facilities and grounds to sustain a well-maintained and safe school district DISTRICT AND JOB DESCRIPTION: Elk Rapids Schools has approximately 975 students in grades K-12 and is located in the northwest lower peninsula of Michigan. The District also serves as an authorizer of Mill Creek Academy, a K-5th-grade District that educates approximately 230 students. Elk Rapids Schools is an education leader within the Northwest Education Services Intermediate School District and is eager to interview the best candidates for this vacancy. Elk Rapids Schools is seeking a motivated, passionate, engaged, and dedicated Facilities/Operations Supervisor to make a difference in our community and district. The ideal candidate will commit to educational excellence, have leadership experience, and have a broad range of knowledge and skills in the trades industry. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Assume responsibility for the overall direction and management of school facilities, maintenance and operations, grounds, and planning for new technologies and future growth under the general direction of the Superintendent, and in accordance with Board objectives and policies. ? Support the day-to-day operations of the district when it pertains to construction, immediate maintenance needs, and facility oversight. ? Serve as the liaison between the district and our custodial management company, and also assist with the scheduling of our custodial team. ? Develops effective and efficient systems for all maintenance services, preventative maintenance services, and work orders. ? Completes the detailed inventory of buildings. ? Responsible for the technical library consisting of plans, specifications, shop drawings, manufacturer's literature, etc., on all buildings and equipment therein. ? Completes the development of maintenance standards and guides for each building. ? Develops safety work rules for employees and conducts a continuous safety program. ? Selects, recommends for purchase, and evaluates products relating to operation and maintenance supplies, equipment, and tools. ? Responsible for the appropriate bidding and purchase of supplies, equipment, and tools. Supervises, inspects, and evaluates the work, and certifies satisfactory completion for payment. ? Assists in the planning for new buildings and additions, remodeling, renovations, and capital projects. ? Develops schedules for periodic inspection, preventive maintenance, and service of buildings and equipment. ? Develops long-range plans for the maintenance and improvement of buildings and grounds. ? Works with building administrators so that proper custodial and maintenance services are provided for all activities. ? Represents the Superintendent in working with the architect on construction projects. ? Supervise all services that are contracted for ground maintenance, including snow removal and custodial services. ? Checks road conditions and advises the Superintendent on school closings and delays. ? Perform all such other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Superintendent/Designee. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: ? Training and Experience: Training and knowledge in the maintenance of wood, VCT tile, and carpeted flooring; a sound knowledge of building construction, the maintenance and operation of buildings and grounds; an understanding of the specific purposes of school facilities maintenance and operation. The finalist must be willing to complete the MSBO Facilities Supervisor Certification Training within three years. ? Demonstrated Technical Skills: Planning and organizational skills, knowledge in the maintenance of boilers and air conditioning systems, temperature control systems, access control systems, possess computer literacy skills, and have a broad background in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry. ? Human Relations Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively with students, parents, staff, and members of the community.
