Williams-Sonoma – Designer, Costumes/Seasonal, Pottery Barn Kids – San Francisco, CA

You will be joining a team of top-level designers in the home furnishings and décor space. Working alongside bedding, bath, gifting, and rug designers, you will complete the Pottery Barn Kids textiles team.

About the Role

You will design products using style, theme and mood. You will present to Head designer for approval.

You will work autonomously to develop and deliver inspiring product that both delivers on strategic business plans and speaks to our customer from beginning to end of each design cycle. Starting with each season’s launch, you will interpret the larger seasonal concepts into your product categories by creating compelling presentations. You will present to your department head and edit your designs for the season. You will work directly with your overseas partners and vendors to develop your designs while managing the season’s timeline and offer comments, problem solve, and pivot where necessary. You will contribute to creating beautiful and inspired virtual and physical presentations that showcase our concepts and product 3 times per season.

Responsibilities

  • Translate trends into concepts that respond to business needs (e.g., price points, geographic considerations) for the relevant product category
  • Develop SKU-level designs from conception through revisions to sample approval. Present to Head Designer for review and approval
  • Create presentation boards
  • May present products and concepts to Merchandising
  • Gather market data on key fashion trends considering such elements as fabrication, materials, color schemes and designs
  • Identify ideas to be developed
  • Tracks department samples and ensures all samples are approved in a timely manner

Criteria

  • You have 4+ years product design experience
  • A Degree in Design or equivalent experience
  • You have design Skills
  • You have creative and Inspirational thinking
  • You are deadline driven
  • Thorough understanding of fabrications and notions
  • Knowledge of garment construction
  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Powerpoint
