<strong>Description<br><br></strong>We're seeking an experienced Visual Designer to drive the strategic evolution of Kindle's visual experience on behalf our our customers. In this role, you'll lead complex design initiatives that will help shape how millions of readers interact with ebooks while driving long-term organizational strategy for visual design excellence.<br><br>The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who can balance creative excellence with business needs, while effectively leading complex initiatives across organizational boundaries. They should be comfortable working with ambiguous problems and able to create scalable solutions that elevate the entire design organization.<br><br>This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of digital reading while driving organizational excellence in visual design across Amazon Books.<br><br>Key job responsibilities<br><br><ul><li> Define and drive the long-term visual strategy for Kindle's reading experiences across surfaces, balancing customer needs with business goals and technical constraints</li><li> Lead complex design initiatives that require coordination across multiple teams</li><li> Develop scalable design systems and frameworks that enable force multiplication across the Books organization</li><li> Identify and solve ambiguous design challenges where strategy and solutions are not clearly defined</li><li> Drive organizational adoption of visual design best practices and standards</li><li> Present strategic design solutions to senior leadership, articulating both creative vision and business rationale</li><li> Actively mentor and develop others while fostering an inclusive design culture</li><li> Make strategic trade-off decisions balancing short-term needs versus long-term sustainability<br><br></li></ul>A day in the life<br><br>As a Senior Visual Designer at Amazon Books, you'll drive strategic visual initiatives while balancing hands-on creative work. You'll lead design reviews with cross-functional partners to align visual direction for reading features and present strategic vision and mood boards to senior stakeholders. Your role includes mentoring designers, creating and validating visual and communication elements such as typography and color palettes for various lighting conditions, defining specifications for scalable graphic asset production, and developing illustration concepts for lock screens for reading devices.<br><br>Your work will directly influence how millions of readers interact with their books, making reading more engaging and accessible across Amazon's reading experiences.<br><br>The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who can balance creative excellence with business needs, while effectively leading complex initiatives across organizational boundaries. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,300/year in our highest geographic market.
