Purpose
The Position
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator collaborates with the Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) Graphic Designer to create culturally and linguistically appropriate media content.
As this is a grant-funded position, the role and job functions are subject to grant funding availability and grant guidelines.

Essential Functions
Communication Production Coordination
- Coordinate the creation and development of content and communication materials including press releases, media advisories, correspondence and reports related to grant activities, strategies, and milestones.
- Assist with writing speeches, developing presentations and campaigns for grant related activities, strategies, and milestones to address public health needs.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to inform the general public, interest groups, Administration, Common Council, state and federal agencies and community partners of grant activities and accomplishments
Marketing Coordination
- Work with senior-level management, community partners, and advertising/promotional agencies to effectively execute marketing strategies to address public health needs.
- Develop time and action plans and direct associated marketing campaigns throughout the department to promote awareness of grant activities and milestones.
Media and Community Relations
- Serve as the liaison to MHD staff and other department heads for announcements related to grant activities.
- Assist in representing the Milwaukee Health Department in public forums, at media events, committees and workgroups related to grant activities.

- As this is a grant-funded position, the role and job functions are subject to grant funding availability and grant guidelines.
- Position requires working variable hours as dictated by departmental needs, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Position requires travel to various sites throughout the City of Milwaukee.
- May be required to respond to an emergency or a broad-impact event.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- One year of progressively responsible experience in journalism, communication, public or media relations.
- Valid driver's license at time of appointment and throughout employment.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

Current Salary
The current salary range (2JX) for City of Milwaukee is $75,722 - $92,612 annually, and the residency incentive salary for City of Milwaukee residents is $77,994 - $95,390 annually. Appointment above the minimum is possible based upon level of experience and other qualifications and is subject to approval.

Selection Process
