About the position

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the strategic liaison for health IT efforts representing nursing and patient care team needs.
  • Act as the accountable executive for administrative and clinical systems that impact nursing.
  • Develop nursing/clinical informatics strategies related to health IT procurement, implementation, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Combine knowledge of patient care, information technology, and change management to address the information needs of patient care professionals.
  • Act as a change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation, and value measurement of IT strategies to support quality patient care.
  • Incorporate nursing research and evidence-based nursing knowledge into nursing informatics practice.
  • Maintain relationships with key business partners to leverage best practices and evaluate emerging technologies.
  • Work with clinical and IT leaders to evaluate the effectiveness of technologies and workflows impacting clinical users.
  • Promote advancement of clinical and business intelligence systems to evaluate patient outcomes and support operational improvement.
  • Execute strategies for consistent operational practices across 21 Northern California medical centers.
  • Engage with nursing and clinical leaders to develop and evaluate key technology care delivery initiatives.
  • Review and evaluate analyses identifying contributing factors of business value for programs in Northern California.
  • Develop strong relationships and strategic partnerships with subject matter experts and leaders.
  • Consider interdependencies across multiple programs and anticipate business issues and barriers to change.
  • Lead strategic and operational planning to achieve goals by fostering innovation and managing IT systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years direct experience in the healthcare field in a complex delivery system environment.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in technical and leadership management in IT or clinical disciplines.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's degree required in Business Administration, Information Systems, Informatics, Nursing, or a healthcare-related field.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated competencies in health system and workforce management, organizational change, and functioning in a multi-facility organization.
  • Ability to influence people, make decisions, drive consensus, and achieve results.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with effective presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, influencing, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style promoting teamwork to achieve results.
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 50%.
  • Deep knowledge of clinical documentation systems and nursing documentation requirements.
  • Experience in streamlining nursing documentation pathways/requirements.
  • Skilled in the design, implementation, and sustainment of documentation systems that decrease nursing intensity.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide clinical technology programs impacting nursing and other clinical disciplines.
  • Strong project and program management experience.
  • Experience with successful change management in a large healthcare environment.
  • Strong background in requirements assessment and development.
  • Experience in supporting and developing RFPs for clinical systems impacting nursing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal informatics training preferred.
  • ANCC Informatics Certification preferred.
