Position Overview:

Angel F. Leal, Jr., P.A., Immigration Law Firm, is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant / Financial Analyst to join our growing team. This role is a critical next step in expanding our financial management capabilities and supporting the leadership team with accurate, timely financial information. In addition to providing high-level financial analysis, reporting, and dashboard creation, this role includes hands-on, day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, deep experience in QuickBooks, and a sharp eye for financial analysis, billing trends, and reporting dashboards. You will be responsible for day-to-day transactional accounting, cash flow management, reconciliations, and CPA coordination. Payroll is handled by another team member, but you will ensure all bookkeeping data is accurate and ready for payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day Bookkeeping

  • Maintain accurate and timely entry of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions.• Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping operations, including recording invoices, payments, deposits, and journal entries.• Ensure proper categorization and coding of transactions in QuickBooks.• Monitor and maintain accurate records of client trust accounts (IOLTA) in compliance with applicable regulations.

Reconciliations

  • Perform regular bank, trust/IOLTA account, and credit card reconciliations.• Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger accounts monthly.• Verify and resolve any discrepancies in financial records.

Financial Reporting & Dashboards

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the Managing Partner and leadership team.• Develop and maintain financial dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support decision-making.• Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on trends in revenue, expenses, and profitability.

Billing & Revenue Analysis

  • Analyze client billing, collections, and realization rates.• Support timekeeper productivity analysis and billing compliance.• Provide detailed reports and recommendations on billing efficiencies and client profitability.

Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure the firm’s financial stability.• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.• Make recommendations to improve cash management strategies.

CPA Coordination

  • Liaise with the firm’s external CPA for tax preparation, audits, and financial reviews.• Ensure all documentation and reports are prepared and submitted accurately and on time.• Provide timely and accurate financial data to the CPA for tax filings and year-end close.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Optimize the use of QuickBooks and other financial software to improve reporting and analysis.• Evaluate and enhance financial processes and controls to ensure efficiency and compliance.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required or an Associates with equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial analysis roles.• Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment is highly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop).• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.• Experience developing custom financial reports and dashboards.

Competencies:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial leadership.• Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial data.• Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing competing priorities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must provide at least two professional references from previous supervisors or clients familiar with your accounting and bookkeeping work.• Availability for occasional meetings with the Managing Partner or leadership team, as needed.• Payroll processing is not a responsibility of this role; however, accuracy of general ledger entries and bookkeeping is critical for payroll accuracy.
