The Utility Locator will work closely with the Traffic Operations Supervisor and will be responsible for managing USA tickets, which involve the identification and marking of utilities to prevent damage during excavation and construction activities. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of the city's utility systems and ensuring public safety. The Utility Locator will engage in moderate to heavy physical work, which includes prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting. The position requires the ability to carry loads weighing between 50 to 95 pounds and involves fieldwork that may expose the employee to various weather conditions. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to customer service, safety, and high-quality service delivery to both the public and other city departments. The selection process for this position will involve an evaluation of applications and supplemental materials, followed by interviews and/or examinations for the most qualified candidates. Successful applicants may also be required to undergo background checks, physical examinations, and drug screenings.
