4-day School Week, Monday through Thursday, with one staff in-service day each month on a Friday. The school year started on August 11th and ends on May 15th. Two full weeks off for Christmas Break.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special requirements. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), fostering an inclusive classroom environment, and utilizing various teaching methodologies to enhance student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that align with IEP goals for students with special needs.
  • Utilize behavior management techniques to create a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with parents, support staff, and other educators to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Provide tutoring and mentoring to students in various subjects, including literacy education, math (Algebra and Calculus), and physical education.
  • Incorporate learning technology into the classroom to enhance educational experiences.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior, ensuring compliance with educational standards.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and curriculum development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid South Dakota teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in classroom management and lesson planning techniques tailored for diverse learners.
