JOB OVERVIEW:

Howard Technology Solutions is seeking a highly qualified Cyber Security Consulting Engineer to serve our clients in both a pre-sales and post-sales delivery capacity. This individual will help scope opportunities, build Statements of Work (SOW), and deliver solutions for our clients. The majority of these projects will be primarily around Firewall solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Client Consultation:

  • Understand clients’ needs and security posture and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Communicate complex security topics effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Pre-Sales Support:

  • Collaborate with the sales team to scope and design secure network solutions for potential customers.
  • Create and present technical proposals, Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Statements of Work (SOW).

Solution Delivery:

  • Implement, configure, and maintain firewall solutions from vendors such as Barracuda, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Sophos.
  • Conduct onsite installations as needed.

Security Assessment:

  • Perform security risk assessments and vulnerability testing.
  • Identify, define and document system security requirements and recommend solutions to customer and sales.
  • Analyze and interpret security data and metrics.
  • Develop and present formal security assessment reports and gap analysis for customers around their current cyber security posture.
  • Creating risk assessment scopes, analyzing impacts and risks, prioritizing and documenting results.

Technical Support:

  • Provide remote and on-site technical support to customers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex security issues.

Documentation:

  • Produce and maintain detailed network and security documentation.

Travel:

  • Travel to meet with potential customers as well as for on-site installations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least five years of information technology experience.
  • At least two years of experience managing security solutions within a business network.
  • At least two years of experience managing Microsoft Active Directory.
  • At least two years of experience mitigating viruses, malware, and spam.
  • Experience with penetration testing and vulnerability scanning tools
  • Experience creating risk assessment scopes, analyzing impacts and risks, Prioritizing and Documenting results
  • Ability to make formal presentations to stakeholders with methodology and results
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, network documentation, routing, and security protocols.
  • Detailed understanding of information security systems, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, vulnerability management, antivirus, and disk encryption.
  • Familiarity with NIST Cybersecurity Framework, SP 800 series, and CIS Critical Security Controls.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security)
  • Fortinet Certified Network Security Professional (NSE4)
  • Security+, CISSP, GSEC, CEH, or other security-related certification
  • ITIL training and certification

SKILLS:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and team orientation.
  • Strong technical acumen and ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Comfortable working with Linux operating systems, Microsoft Windows operating systems, virtualization technologies, electronic certificates, and PKI.
  • Familiar with encryption and hashing standards.
  • Ability to complete tasks without supervision and meet customer deadlines and timelines.
