Job Summary
The Direct Care Worker plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals in various settings, including home care, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and promoting their overall well-being. Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Assist clients with mobility and transportation needs as required.
  • Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in the client's condition to the appropriate healthcare personnel.
  • Implement care plans developed by healthcare professionals and participate in case management discussions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks.
  • Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other healthcare team members regarding client needs and progress.
  • Utilize medical terminology accurately when documenting care provided or discussing client conditions.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including first aid procedures when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in home care, nursing homes, or assisted living environments is preferred.
  • Strong conflict management skills to handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of senior care practices and the ability to assist with case management tasks.
  • Familiarity with vital signs monitoring and basic medical terminology is essential.
  • Certification in First Aid is a plus; additional training may be provided as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for those under your care is essential.
