Editorial & Publishing Director – Full-Time, US-Based Contractor (Remote)

Other Jobs To Apply

We’re Branding by Books, and our mission is simple:

We help founders, speakers, and experts turn their ideas into powerful books that grow their brand, attract opportunities, and change lives.

We’re seeking an Editorial & Publishing Director to oversee and elevate our entire book creation process — from the first idea to the final launch. This includes planning, writing, editing, and publishing oversight. You’ll lead a talented team of overseas writers, editors, and designers while ensuring each book we produce meets our high standards and launches successfully.

This is a full-time, long-term, US-based contractor role (W-9). We are not looking for someone balancing multiple freelance clients. This is your primary professional focus.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the entire book pipeline — from planning and writing through editing and publishing.

Join key client milestone calls (outline approvals, mid-project reviews, pre-launch checks).

Coach and mentor writers and editors to improve craft, consistency, and efficiency.

Refine and expand SOPs for writing, editing, and publishing — including integrating AI tools to streamline workflows, improve organization, and enhance creative output without replacing the author’s voice.

Advise on book positioning, categories, keywords, and launch readiness.

Identify ways to make our books more successful in the market.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us:

Impact & Legacy: Your work will directly shape dozens of books every year — books that help leaders grow their brands and leave a legacy.

Creative Freedom: We encourage you to bring ideas that improve our process, elevate our books, and make launches stronger.

Long-Term Growth: We’re scaling quickly, and this role will grow with us — more influence, more resources, and more opportunity.

Requirements:

5+ years in book publishing (self-publishing, hybrid, or traditional).

Strong background in both writing and editing, plus familiarity with publishing strategy.

Proven experience leading creative teams and improving workflows.

Knowledge of Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and best practices for metadata, categories, and keywords.

Fluency with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) to enhance planning, research, organization, and editing — without replacing the author’s unique voice.

Confident communicator with clients and team members.

Organized, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

US-based and available for a full-time W-9 contractor arrangement.

Compensation:

$5,000/month starting rate (potential to grow as we scale)

Flexibility for time off and holidays

Long-term, ongoing role
