Whalers Cove Lodge is seeking professional, friendly, and experienced saltwater and freshwater mariners to join our team! We are looking for well-seasoned captains who take pride in their profession and possess prior guiding experience in Alaska. Celebrate our 40th year of hosting guests in the breathtaking Alaskan wilderness with us!

Compensation and Benefits

Pay is salaried at $4500 per month, depending on experience. Excellent compensation based upon experience is provided.

Skills

  • Applicable USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (minimum OUPV with Near Coastal endorsement)
  • Vessel handling and maintenance skills
  • Safe use of firearms
  • Excellent communication skills and strong work ethic
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and no mobility limitations
  • Knowledge and experience with freshwater fishing (fly and spin cast fishing)

Responsibilities

  • Guide guests in saltwater and freshwater fishing activities
  • Maintain vessel safety and functionality
  • Collaborate with the team to provide exceptional guest experiences
  • Uphold professionalism and respect in all interactions
  • Work 10-12 hour days during the operational season

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of saltwater guiding experience (for saltwater applicants)
  • Minimum 5 years of fly fishing experience (for freshwater applicants)
  • Minimum 2 years of outdoor guiding experience (not boat-based)
  • Prior remote experience/living required
