Factory Field Quality Engineer ID-15348
The Factory Field Quality Engineer will work as a member of Tesla's Quality Engineering organization. This role acts as a team lead who investigates quality issues first-hand, directs the day to day of technicians/data analysts while serving as a mentor, and drives cross-functional teams to solve issues. The QE will also provide summary reports to top leadership, monitor countermeasure effectiveness over the long-term, and close the feedback loop with field employees by presenting (virtually) in front of large audiences.

Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements; use of QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions
- Lead and mentor technicians on how to clean field data, analyze trends, and clearly present results
- Establish and maintain quality performance metrics
- Develop and implement quality standards as part of the Tesla Quality System to assure products meet expectations of our target customers
- Support the development of product specifications and tolerances, design and process FMEAs and DVAs
- Establish and maintain control plans and inspection standards to assure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production processes
- Lead/facilitate review and disposition of discrepant materials identified for control of nonconforming product
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily housekeeping and 5S standards
- Promote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement, working within the Tesla team to make it more efficient, safer and an enjoyable place to work
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred)
- Specific training and demonstrated success in applying quality problem solving methods such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc.
- Experience with broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
- Ability, willingness to travel domestically, and internationally (5% to 10%)
- May be required to support extended hours based on business and production needs

- $72,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
- Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
