Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Greets patrons utilizing or visiting the Recreation Center
  • Accepts fees for facility use. Registers participants and collects fees for programs and activities including childcare punch cards, private fitness and swim cards. Provides, checks and renews membership and resident id cards; takes pictures for cards
  • Makes change for customers and accounts for cash register proceeds
  • Provides customer service by responding to basic patron concerns and issues; providing information regarding the recreation facility, programs offered, and schedules in person and via phone; and answering the phone and responding to questions or transferring the call to an appropriate staff member
  • Maintains towel supply; washes, dries and stores towels
  • Assists with opening and closing the Recreation Center
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the entry and lobby area
  • Replaces Recreation Center forms and brochures
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

Minimum Qualifications :

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • Education : High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience : Six (6) months experience in a public setting providing customer service
  • Licenses and / or Certifications Required : A CPR and First Aid Certificate is required, or ability to attain within 30 days and can be obtained through the Recreation department
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
  • Knowledge of Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the Recreation Center's programs and activities
  • Skill in communicating effectively in person and over telephone
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patrons and coworkers
  • Ability to exercise consistent tact and courtesy in frequent public contact
  • Ability to handle diverse tasks while maintaining attention to detail for accuracy
  • Skill in operating a computer keyboard and ability to learn specific Recreation Center application
  • Physical Demands :

  • Sedentary work for long periods of time
  • Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
  • Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Frequent hand / eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
  • Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
  • Work Environment :

  • Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment
  • Equipment Used :

  • Uses standard office equipment including a personal computer system
