PRIMARY FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILTY

The Intake Supervisor will be responsible for providing regular administrative and supervision, support, and oversite for the Belong Intake team. The position leads a team seeking placement for youth in care by providing referral information, assessing needs, and coordinating placement services for children, youth, and network providers. The Intake Supervisor will perform the following duties directly or through their direct reports: Supervises direct reports on a day-to-day basis; coaches and develops direct reports, ensures that child/youth referred to SJRC Texas/Belong are placed in accordance with SJRC Texas/Belong regulations, contract requirements, policy/procedures, and the Texas Family Code.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitors and reviews placements made by Intake Specialists to ensure adherence to placement outcome goals as mandated by SJRC Texas/Belong contract requirements.
  • Conducts coaching and developing (i.e., reflective supervision) on a regular basis and provides opportunities for the professional development of assigned staff.
  • Participates in meetings with collaborating community partners and network providers.
  • Maintains an accurate system of identifying available resources to achieve the most appropriate child/youth placements are achieved by SJRC Texas/Belong.
  • Ensures that child/youth assessment tools and other pertinent information are properly used to correctly evaluate each child/youth referred to SJRC Texas/Belong for placements or services.
  • Promotes safety and encourages the least-restrictive and shortest length of out of home placement for child/youth.
  • Reviews case documentation on a regular basis to monitor contract compliance.
  • Participates in other administrative and planning meetings as needed to facilitate referral and placement.
  • Makes recommendations on initiatives and ideas regarding quality improvement activities within the department's scope of responsibilities.
  • Builds and maintains a close working relationship with DFPS, community partners and SJRC Texas/Belong network providers involved in providing services/support to children and families.
  • Intake Department is responsible for ensuring that calls for placement are answered 24/7/365.The Intake Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the on-call schedule is developed, followed, and maintained; handles all incoming calls as needed.
  • Ensures staff completes and maintains accurate intake and placement documentation for each child/youth.
  • Coordinates with Agency's Quality Improvement and Contracts Specialists to ensure compliance of network providers as it relates to placements and performance.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and developing employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Supports the strengthening and management of the culture and practices that reflects the organization’s mission and core values and fosters high engagement in staff.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency while responding to TDFPS and Provider Network to meet contract deliverables; prioritizes customer's needs and follows up to evaluate customer's satisfaction.
  • Participates in developing training curriculum for Intake Specialists.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledgeable/Skills

  • Knowledge of program planning and implementation.
  • Knowledge of TDFPS policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Centralized Placement Unit/Intake & Placement workflows.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining exceptional working relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Working knowledge or Minimum Standards for Child Placing Agencies.
  • 2 years working in the Child Welfare field.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or another related field.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Previous work with child/youth in Texas DFPS care.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, ability to provide own transportation and proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Complete Trauma Informed Care Training Sessions (provided).

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, walk and walk briskly to interact with and monitor children.
  • Stamina to work long days and drive long distances.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 60 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability to give and receive verbal and written instructions (with or without hearing aids).
  • Must have the ability to read fine print, have sustained vision, and peripheral vision (with or without glasses).
  • Environment requires dexterity to remain calm and adapt to fast paced and emotional environments consisting of children with moderate to severe emotional and psychological needs.
  • Minimum of 40 hours per week but may necessitate additional time to complete assigned work, which would include evenings and weekends.
  • Rotating on call 24/7 schedule is required.
  • Home-like settings with varying moderate to high degrees of background noise.
  • Light and ventilation are found in a typical home setting.
  • Campuses are smoke-free, except on permitted campuses in designated areas.
  • Possible injury when lifting or moving if employee fails to use proper body mechanics, or if proper techniques are not used.
