Available Positions

1:1 Transportation Nurse

  • Provide 1:1 nursing care for students during transportation to and from school via bus/van.

  • Administer prescribed medications and provide routine and emergency nursing care as healthcare providers prescribe.

  • Educate and update students, parents, and caregivers on health conditions and treatments.

  • Conduct student assessments for chronic health conditions, safety, abuse, and other health-related issues.

  • Promote a healthy school community and respond quickly to medical emergencies.

  • Maintain confidentiality by HIPAA regulations and communicate new health policies to school administration.

Nursing Classroom Paraprofessional

  • Assist assigned students with physical care, feeding, medication, and mobility.

  • Reinforce skills introduced by the teacher and provide instruction using games and activities.

  • Assist with gross motor activities and the use of instructional materials.

  • Participate actively in the school swimming program and help supervise students during various school activities.

  • Attend and contribute to weekly team and staff meetings.

  • Complete assigned paperwork, collect data, and update student portfolios.

  • Engage in school committee activities and perform other duties as assigned.

School Nurse

  • Provide education to students with chronic illnesses, focusing on diabetes, asthma, allergies, seizures, and more.

  • Administer medications and treatments as assigned per physician medication treatment authorization plans.

  • Participate in planning and coordinating student care with school administrators and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Develop and follow individual health plans for students with chronic conditions.

  • Conduct triage and provide direct services in the health suite/clinic.

  • Manage patient medication refills and participate in community outreach, vaccine clinics, and education programs.

  • Maintain accurate records and communicate timely with parents and school administrators regarding student health.

Qualifications

  • Current nursing license (LPN / LVN) in the District of Columbia.

  • Experience in pediatric or school nursing is preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing health policies and school needs.

Qualifications

  • Current BLS CPR.

  • Experience in pediatric or school nursing is preferred.
