NDT Technician 1

Perform non-destructive testing on a variety of sheet metal aircraft components.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Process parts and interpret findings in accordance with specifications and requirements.
  • Follow established NDT technique sheets and ensures any revisions to established techniques meet Exotic and customer requirements.
  • Accurately document inspection findings.
  • May create and revise NDT technique sheets per requirements.
  • Detect faulty processes and bring to the attention of applicable NDT Tech or Supervisor.
  • Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of NDT methods and techniques and proposes solutions to problems which impact productivity.
  • Check required dimensions using calipers, micrometers and other inspection devices.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.
  • Interpret and follow written instructions, sketches, schedules, drawings and documents.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
  • May demonstrate basic operations to others.
  • Work under direct oversight.
  • Become certified in FPI and Radiographic Inspection.
  • Possess adequate knowledge of Exotic manufacturing and NDT processes to be able to anticipate problems in order to implement effective and productive inspection techniques.


Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of shop math and precision measurement equipment.
  • Able to read and understand manufacturing planning, engineering blueprints and sketches and knows when to stop and ask for clarification.
  • Able to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Prefer prior experience in aerospace working to customer-developed procedures and standards.


Working Conditions

Demonstrate proper and safe operation of equipment, and personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses/full face shield, hearing protection, respirator, and rubber gloves as required.

Physical Requirements
Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.

The wage range for this role considers allowances for a number of factors, including but not limited to required experience, skill level, prior training, licensure/certifications, education and other business needs.

Competitive Compensation
  • Pay Range: Min $21.50/hour to max $33.50/hour
