We are seeking a dedicated Nutrition Coordinator to manage and enhance our growing nutrition program. The primary responsibilities include planning and implementing nutritious meal plans, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal nutritional guidelines and regulations.

The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of nutrition, dietary requirements, and have experience working in a school or institutional food service setting. Your goal will be to promote healthy eating habits and provide balanced meals to our students.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement nutritious and balanced meal plans for students.
  • Assist to distribute snack/meals to afterschool sites as needed.
  • Create weekly/monthly menus and update as needed.
  • Coordinate with food service providers and vendors to supply meals.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal dietary regulations and guidelines.
  • Manage budget and inventory for nutrition programs (SFSP, CACFP, Empty Bowls).
  • Oversee food preparation and service to ensure safety and hygiene standards.
  • Work with school administrators, site counselors, and parents to promote healthy eating habits.
  • Monitor student allergies and dietary restrictions to ensure appropriate meal accommodations.
  • Train and supervise food service staff in food preparation, food serving, and sanitation procedures.
  • Organize and oversee nutritional educational programs and activities for community events/dinners.
  • Assist with funding applications/opportunities to ensure program funding.
  • Complete Food-Based Funding reports as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a nutrition coordinator or similar role.
  • Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or 5 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of dietary needs and nutritional regulations.
  • Experience in budgeting and inventory management.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office and nutritional analysis software.
  • A minimum of three years experience with food preparation is preferred, current Monongalia County Health Department Food Handler’s Card, TB test, fingerprint and CIB checks (paperwork provided by The Shack).

Additional Information

  • Job Title: Nutrition Coordinator
  • Work Environment: School-Community Center setting. May require some travel for training and development.
  • Reporting Structure: Reports to the Program Director and/or Executive Director
  • Pay Range: $14-$16 per hour
  • Location: Morgantown, WV
  • Employment Type: Part-time 15-20 hours/week, Full-time for Summer Program June-August
