Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, a strong understanding of patient care, and the ability to work with diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities and memory care needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client health status.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary needs.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and laundry, to maintain a safe environment.
  • Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
  • Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations while providing care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement effective care strategies.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in home health, assisted living, or long-term care settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and basic nursing skills is desirable.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or autism is a plus.
  • Strong patient observation skills and the ability to monitor changes in behavior or health status.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor towards clients.
  • Understanding of care plans and the ability to follow them accurately.
