Horner & Shifrin is seeking a full-time Building Project Engineer in our Structural Business Unit located in our O’Fallon, MO, O’Fallon, IL, Chicago, IL, Rogers, AR, Poplar Bluff, MO, Marion, IL or St. Louis, MO office. This position requires 8+ years of experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Follow Building Practice production and design standards and procedures as delegated by the Project Manager
  • Perform and check structural engineering calculations using company, client, and industry standards
  • Participate in the preparation and checking of structural construction drawings created by teammates to meet firm and client requirements.
  • Develop and check cost estimates
  • Participate in the preparation of reports and studies
  • Assist in the management of projects
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines within the firm to assure successful completion of projects

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, Missouri, or Arkansas
  • Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois (preferred)
  • Experience with structural design and detailing of water or wastewater plant structures or similar structures (firm requirement)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or Microstation
  • Knowledge of Structural Design Software
  • Ability to traverse structural sites, including heights and rough terrain
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must complete a background check

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Master of Science in Civil Engineering (preferred)

SALARY RANGE:

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
