At Twilio, we support <a target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow" href="https://www.twilio.com/company/diversity">diversity, equity & inclusion</a> wherever we do business.</p> <p><strong>About the job</strong></p> <p>This position is needed to evolve Twilio Voice’s Voice Connectivity Infrastructure to the next level by leveraging cutting edge technologies to build and deploy software in a massively distributed environment with low latency, high availability, and at a global scale.</p> <p>As a Senior Software Engineer, you will partner with the product managers, designers, architects and other engineers in the Voice team to build and maintain PSTN Connectivity and other networking products that solve real world customer problems. </p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <p>In this role, you’ll:</p> <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Develop horizontally-scalable, resilient, high availability and performing-under-load distributed systems in a production environment. </li> <li>Own, operate, and maintain your team’s services in a production environment. Make DevOps a primary concern to ensure services are reliable, scalable, manageable and supportable.</li> <li>Raise the bar on team performance. Enable feature velocity while maintaining quality by writing unit, functional, load and performance tests.</li> <li>Contribute to the product roadmap for Twilio Voice, including continuous evaluation of industry standards, techniques, tools and trends. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!</p> <p><strong>Required:</strong></p> <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience building software in a large scale, distributed applications environment</li> <li>Strong distributed systems knowledge and understands various tradeoffs of building systems at scale</li> <li>Able to demonstrate proficiency in a JVM based language (Java preferred), web stack and framework</li> <li>Experience scaling data tiers employing a variety of SQL/NoSQL database and caching technologies</li> <li>Strong Computer Science fundamentals not limited to data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems</li> <li>Able to work well in a team setting with excellent communication and collaboration skills</li> <li>Well-versed in agile processes, continuous integration and test automation.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desired:</strong></p> <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Experience operating systems at scale in mission critical environment</li> <li>Experience with and/or knowledge of IP networking and application-level protocols, including an understanding of end-end networks and factors affecting performance. </li> <li>Hands-on experience with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Azure.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Location</strong></p> <p>This role will be remote, and based in the United States, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, NY, NJ, WA, PA, CT, or District of Columbia</p> <p><strong>Travel </strong></p> <p>We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other.
