About the position

Responsibilities

  • Maintain records and materials for Wild Horse and Burro adoption events in Wyoming and Nebraska.
  • Process applications for adoption of wild horses and burros.
  • Provide public outreach and education on the Wild Horse and Burro program and adoption process.
  • Assist the wrangler and facility manager in daily adoption preparation and care of wild horses and burros.
  • Maintain animal health records and ensure accurate data entry into WHBPS.
  • Create and enter animal preparation records.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level, including organizing and maintaining files and records.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects.
  • Ability to learn about laws, regulations, and policies in the Wild Horse and Burro program.
  • Knowledge of care and handling of wild horses and burros, including feeding, controlling, restraint, and health.
  • Ability to use computer software systems.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with government agencies and the public.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in animal husbandry or related fields.
  • Familiarity with federal employment processes and regulations.
