The Office of Wildlife exists to provide wise stewardship of Louisiana's wildlife and associated habitats and increase wildlife conservation awareness. WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES TECHNICIAN A-C - PINEVILLE WMA The incumbent of this is position is a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A-C and receives direct supervision from a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician Supervisor based in the Pineville field office.
This position performs daily operations primarily on Alexander State Forest, Elbow Slough, Esler Field, and Sabine Wildlife Management Areas as well as other wildlife management areas or Pineville region projects as needed. This position will participate in necessary construction and maintenance activities on department buildings, grounds, roads, levees, equipment, camping areas, and water control structures, participate in management activities including planting food plots, operating water control structures, conducting prescribed burns, marking property boundaries, and working managed hunts and bag checks. The incumbent Utilizes, maintains, and transports equipment such as airboats, boats with outboard motors, ATV/UTVs, tractors with implements, trackhoes, bulldozers and motor graders.

The incumbent will make recommendations concerning purchases of equipment, major repairs, and development projects. This position requires the physical ability to operate boats, ATV/UTVs, tractors, motor-grader, and other heavy equipment, handle 50 pound sacks of fertilizer, work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and nights, and may be subject to 24-hour call. The positon also participates in lethal and nonlethal collection of wildlife species for management and research utilizing firearms, baiting, corral traps, rocket nets, and bag checks, provides data to biologists to be used in establishing management or research programs and setting harvest season dates and bag and size limits, transports injured or nuisance animals.
This position will work with landowners, other state agencies, federal agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Also performs any other duties necessary for the agency to accomplish its mission as directed by chain of command.
