Data Scientist, Music Expression

Other Jobs To Apply

This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: New York (USA)

We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join the Music Expression (MusicX) Product Area at Spotify. In this role, you’ll use data, experimentation, and statistical modeling to shape the future of video and artist identity products on Spotify. The role is a unique balance of thinking anchored both from the perspective of the music-industry as well that of Spotify consumers. Your work will turn data into insights and insights into action to influence how millions of artists and listeners experience Spotify every day.

You’ll sit within a cross-functional team of product, engineering, design, and insights working together to find opportunities, design experiments, and measure impact. You’ll develop scalable analytical frameworks and data tools that empower teams to make better decisions, faster.

At Spotify, you’ll have access to one of the richest datasets in the world — along with the autonomy to explore it creatively and rigorously. Above all, your work will help shape how the world listens, discovers, and connects through audio.

What You'll Do
  • Use analytical and statistical methods to uncover insights about the impact of video products within the Spotify ecosystem for artists and listeners
  • Design, implement, and interpret A/B tests and other experiments to measure product and marketing effectiveness
  • Define and operationalize key metrics that track product health, growth, and performance
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, user research, engineering, design, and marketing teams to shape and inform strategy
  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting systems that enable data-driven decisions
  • Build robust, data-backed attribution and measurement frameworks to assess the incremental impact of product initiatives
  • Contribute and communicate insights that influence strategic planning
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to collaborators across levels, influencing priorities and product direction

  • Who You Are
  • You have 4+ years of experience analyzing large, complex datasets using SQL and Python (or R), and are fluent in modern analytical and statistical techniques
  • You have a deep understanding of consumer behaviors
  • You have experience working with multi-modal datasets
  • You bring hands-on experience running and interpreting experiments and incrementality tests
  • You’re skilled at designing metrics that measure the strategic impact of products and setting ambitious but realistic goals
  • You can distill complex data into clear insights and actionable recommendations that influence product strategy
  • You collaborate efficiently with cross-functional partners, including Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers, and communicate insights with clarity and confidence
  • You’re comfortable working with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker Studio) to create compelling narratives from data
  • You’re intellectually curious, creative, and rigorous — equally excited about shaping business strategy as you are about refining analytical methods
  • You’re passionate about music and artists
  • You hold a quantitative degree (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics) or equivalent experience

  • Where You'll Be
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the North Americas region as long as we have a work location
  • This team operates within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration
  • The United States base range for this position is $110,018 - $157,169 plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave.
