Are you ready to kick-start your career in the agricultural industry? Dakota Mill and Grain, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and reliable Office Assistant to join our team at the Ft. Pierre Elevator. This position plays a crucial role in the daily administrative operations of our elevator facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee reception area, greet clients, answer telephones, route visitors and/or calls to the appropriate person.
  • Assist clients with questions on market pricing/contracts.
  • Perform miscellaneous client billings/invoices, process incoming payments, assist clients with account questions, and provide supporting paperwork (via print/email/fax or scanner)
  • Submit paperwork to the Rapid City Home Office for grain account settlements (1001 forms).
  • Obtain required information to set up new clients, ensuring credit applications are secured for those wishing to open charge accounts.
  • Prepare outgoing mail and correspondence.
  • Send samples to Aberdeen for accuracy checks on facility grain grading and for any accounts that request it.
  • Janitorial upkeep of office area/bathrooms.
  • Create daily inbound/outbound/intercompany transfer paperwork, verify accuracy, and enter into the Agris system.
  • Provide support to other locations, grain merchandisers, upper management, agronomists, and general laborers as needed.
  • Maintain reliable work attendance.

Qualifications:

  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and physical.
  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
  • Prior experience in a grain elevator or agricultural setting is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak harvest seasons.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Exposure to noise and dust
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment as needed
  • Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and overtime as required.
