ROLE OVERVIEW

With Quality Control in mind as their “customer”, this role is responsible for ensuring welded parts are aesthetically pleasing and fully prepared for painting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive priorities for day (according to schedule and complexity of tasks) from Lead at beginning of shift

  • Help prepare parts to be welded

  • Conduct quality check to ensure welded material is in line with order, that all parts are there and have been welded according to specification

  • Grind and buff welded parts using angle grinder

  • Secures workpiece to bench and guides using angle grinder over workpiece to remove scratches and other defects form surface to meet specified finish.

  • Take completed parts to Quality Control and sign off on documentation

  • Maintain a safe and clean work space to prevent risk to health.

  • Wear appropriate safety gear (e.g. safety glasses, mask, earplugs, steel-toe footwear, etc.)

  • Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related or delegated duties as needed.

  • Responsible for safeguarding all company confidential information obtained in connection with employment whether oral, written or electronic which shall include all information which has been specifically designated as confidential by the employer in a manner which ensures confidentiality as outlined in Railcraft USA. Confidentiality Policy.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and business code of ethics.

  • Responsible to ensure behavior is respectful of all employees of Railcraft USA. and adheres to a respectful workplace that follows policies harassment and discrimination as set out in Railcraft USA. policies.

  • Responsible to follow established Occupational Health and Safety procedures and policies in the workplace.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/KPI’S

  • Remove all splatter and deep scratched for preparation for power coat

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

  • Affinity for machinery (e.g. to use grinder)

  • Willingness and ability to work hard physically; stand all day

  • Ability to lift/move approximately 50 pounds

  • Ability to read and understand basic orders/drawings

  • Willingness and ability to learn machines and equipment and operate them safely.

  • Willingness to use protective clothing and equipment at all times.

  • Ability to understand and accept direction and communicates and work well with others

  • Reliable and punctual to work every day

  • Willingness to work overtime on short notice and as required.

  • Attention to detail and pride in workmanship

  • Follow instructions and work with minimal supervision

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, repetitive environment

  • Willingness to help out in other areas as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience using power tools

  • Understanding of all products

  • Previous installation and/or construction experience

  • Basic English comprehension
