Job Title: Journeyman Painter – Industrial & Commercial (Union)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman Painter to join our union-affiliated team, specializing in industrial and commercial projects across Arizona. The ideal candidate will be proficient in surface preparation, application of protective and decorative coatings, and working with a variety of materials and finishes. This role requires adherence to union standards, safety protocols, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare surfaces using methods such as sanding, scraping, power washing, and media blasting or other methods as needed.

Apply primers, paints, stains, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment or other methods as needed.

Interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to determine painting requirements.

Mix and match paints and finishes to achieve desired colors and textures.

Work in confined spaces, at heights, and on scaffolding or lifts as needed.

Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas.

Follow all OSHA and union safety standards and procedures.

Collaborate with other trades and project managers to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.

Valid Journeyman Painter certification or union card (IUPAT or equivalent).

Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial and commercial painting.

Proficiency in using various painting tools and techniques, including HVLP and airless spray systems.

Knowledge of surface preparation standards (e.g., SSPC/NACE).

Ability to read and interpret technical documents and safety data sheets.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.

Preferred:

OSHA 10 or 30 certification.

Experience with high-performance coatings and specialty finishes.

Familiarity with Arizona building codes and environmental regulations.

Pay is based on union scale as negotiated by the International Union of Painters and experience
