Provide general purchasing support for the organization. The occupant of this position reports to Purchasing Manager and is expected to adhere to all organizational policies and procedures. The occupant is required to maintain all skills and knowledge essential for successful job performance.
Purchasing Specialist:

  • JOB DUTIES: Requisition and manage supplies of raw materials, parts, office and general supplies and services for the organization. Process purchases from inventory reorders in a timely manner. Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Estimate values based upon knowledge of market price. Verify, schedule, and track customer parts for outside vendor services. Maintain computerized procurement records, such as items or services, cost comparison, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Execute special projects and other duties as needed.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Associate’s Degree from accredited university or equivalent experience desired. 0 – 4 years of prior purchasing experience.

  • Business and analysis skills.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues and staff.
  • Work independently and utilize good judgement.
  • Computer skills including MS Office, PowerPoint and other required programs.
  • Ability to recognize and ensure confidentiality is maintained in regards to business knowledge and personnel issues.
  • Complete projects and assignments within agreed upon timeframes.
  • Demonstrate positive and proactive attitudes, practices and behaviors to ensure teamwork and organizational goal attainment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

  • Adequate dexterity to handle heavy typing, tools or other required controls.
  • Able to work in multiple environments – cleanroom, moderate noise, office, outdoors.
  • Occasional lifting pushing and pulling of up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional bending and squatting to reach difficult to reach areas.
  • Exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedures and understand the impact of position on safety and environment. Must understand consequences of failure to follow operational and EHS procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
