<p>The Village of Morton Grove is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our Finance Department as a full-time Accountant. This position performs professional-level accounting duties, supports the maintenance and reporting of financial transactions, and assists with monthly closings, annual audits, financial reconciliations, and other duties as assigned.</p> <p>The Accountant will, under the direction of the Finance Director:</p> <ul> <li>Assist utility billing, accounts payable and receivable with questions, and inquiries, responding to resolve complaints, reviewing work performed and preparing reports and documents.</li> <li>Assist with the preparation of audit work papers for the annual audit by reviewing information, researching files and providing reports and miscellaneous information.</li> <li>Assist with month and year end procedures by analyzing information, creating reports and monitoring and reviewing journal entries.</li> <li>Reconciles general ledgers and bank statements by ensuring all debits and credits are correct and posted.</li> <li>Able to analyze general ledger for outstanding issues, incorrectness and make appropriate changes under the direction of Finance Director.</li> <li>Independently handles a variety of special projects.</li> <li>Provide support to cashier, utility billing and accounts payable and receivable.</li> <li>Assist the Finance Director with monitoring departmental expenditures, and special projects.</li> <li>Review payroll reports for accuracy, verifying pay changes and deductions before sending for processing.</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p>View the full Job Description for more information at <a href=""> <p><strong>Requirements: </strong>The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a minimum of two (2) years of progressive accounting experience. The following knowledge, skills and abilities are required:</p> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial practices.</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.</li> <li>High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity.</li> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Strong organizational and time management abilities.</li> <li>Adaptable to changing priorities and capable of managing multiple tasks.</li> <li>Collaborative team player with a commitment to high-quality work.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Salary Range: </strong>$77,333 to $100,034 DOQ.
