What You'll Do Epic Games is seeking a talented Principal Technical UI Designer to work on Fortnite. In this role you will contribute to a larger vision of UI for Fortnite. You will be solving and driving the vision for complex user theming, technical debt, diving into the world of verse and UEFN, as well as having an eye for creating UI systems that we use internally on Fortnite as well as expose to UEFN creators. You will get to work with experts in UX, UI Art, and Programming, as well as the Unreal Engine developers and collaborate among your peers to produce systems level thinking UI. In this role, you will Collaborate closely with the UI leadership and Programming team to drive and develop new Fortnite UI leveraging new technologies and Unreal Engine. Prototype and quickly iterate on proving out new concepts, features, and tools. Defining and setting the standards for UI that are within memory and CPU constraints. Mentoring other Tech UI Designers and contributing to the best practices and standards across the department. Developing and maintaining documentation, architecture, and other supporting assets/examples for other programmers and designers to follow and execute. What we're looking for Worked on a AAA game in a Lead/ Principal or Director role Technical experience demonstrates a range of complex problem solving, performance improvements, tool building, and prototyping. Deep experience with visual scripting languages such as Python, Lua or Blueprint. Effective leader, collaborator, and problem solver able to coordinate with internal and external teams. Excellent organizational skills and ability to accurately break down large ambiguous problems into manageable tasks, prototypes, and deliverables. Strong communication skills and understanding of various UI disciplines (UX design, UI art, Programming, Product, and Gameplay Designers). You’re user-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do.
